Peter Tessier: Jets are listless, is Maurice on watch? After losing two games this weekend fans and media are pointing to the obvious and it starts on the bench.

I would have Julien's number on speed dial as the best coach available .
Gallant not far behind.
Time to move on.

I've been a Maurice supporter for the most part but after watching the similarities in the last four losses I am pretty much done with him. His systems are so predictable the opposition knows exactly what the Jets are going to do and when. The last week was very difficult to watch.

Thanks for the memories Paul. Time to move on.

A few questions ( so many more but lets start with these)

When the the Jets management realize Maurice is a .500 coach ?

When will Buff decide to consistently be the dominant force in a game like he demonstrated many times last year ?

When will the coach ( and Laine ) realize and adapt to the fact that every team in the league now knows exactly where he will be when he sets up for a shot ( top of left face-off circle) ?

When will the players finally start crowding the net more like every other team in the league does ?

When will Petan get a chance to play on one of the top two lines ? His vision is being wasted on 4th line.

How many more stupid penalties will Enstrom take that are either holding or stick in the hands ( hooking) ?

Will Scheifele set the record yet again for falling the most times in the NHL ?

When will Lowry develop any sort of hockey vision ? Same goes for Matthais.

When will they fire Huddy and Flaherty ?

Show me a good goaltender and I will show you a good coach.

Hitch couldn't do any better IMO. He would be working with two AHL caliber goalies and one that's washed up.

Start the change in net. Bish or Flower.

Pretty sure it's a system thing to go along with goaltending. Budaj looks like the second coming of Tony Esposito out in L.A., but had very regular (even sub par?) numbers playing for the Jets' farm team. I know it's a super small sample size... but again, it falls back to this damned defense and goaltending coaching duo we have in Huddy and Flaherty.

I would love to have seen Pav play for another team this year, if for no other reason than to see how he performs under a different defensive scheme.

I've thrown in the towel for this year. Serious question - is part of the issue that Chipman is too involved day to day? I've heard rumours, but just rumours.

Some very good points but they committed to youth and Maurice and the veteran players need to live with it.

When Wheeler was asked at the start of the year about expectations he said what?
"I don't have any"..... not what you want to hear from your captain but to be fair he was probably told about the youth movement.

It appears they rushed Hellybuck and one could argue that they are in danger of rushing Laine to a certain extent. 18 year olds vs. other team's top lines is a tough task no matter how gifted the player.

It's too late now, live with the lumps and get another great draft pick.

If you want to be bold in the off season and go after Bishop that's fine but my guess is that is counter to what the master plan is of draft and develop.

Find Stafford, Thorburn and Pavs a home for playoff bound teams and stockpile picks.

Hellebuyck - a keeper who will hopefully develop further in the next year or 2
Pavelec - goodbye at the deadline or once his contract expires
Hutchinson - after the expansion draft, he is gone to the AHL.
Trouba - if he wants to stay, give him a new contract.
Postma - goodbye at the end of the season
Myers - if he can fully recover, keep him.
Byfuglien - ask him to waive his no trade clause and get 2 NHL defencemen for him.
Enstrom - maybe some team wants him for the playoff run ?
Morrissey - a keeper.
Stuart - time to retire.
Chiarot - 7th defenceman at best.
Little - a keeper - unquestionable !
Schiefele - maybe he is really a right winger ? A better scorer than he is a playmaker.
Petan - not sure that there is a place for him on this team that can make use of his talent.
Lowry - keep him for the 4th line
Copp - 4th line also
Wheeler - a keeper
Laine - a keeper
Armia - would like to see him play with some more creative players before passing judgement
Thorburn - same as Stuart - retire
Stafford - trade bait, won't be resigned
Ehlers - a keeper
Perreault - not sure that we need him, as a LW, he will hold back one of Connor/Petan/Lemieux
Mattias - 4th liner
Dano - the jury is still out on where he may fit in

Could be dreaming but what about a bold move like:

Conner, Perrault, 2017 1st rd pick (top 10 for sure or better)

to NJD

G- Corey Schneider, Zajac (salary dump'ish)

You forgot to list "prefers to lean on big, unskilled guys when younger players are far clearly better options".

Chairot and Stuart don't make this team next year. Pavelec, Thorburn, Stafford, and probably Hutch are all gone by June 1st. Next years lineup:

Ehlers-Scheifele-Wheeler
Laine-Little-Connor
Armia-Petan-Dano
Matthias-Lowry-Copp
Tanev

Morrissey-Byfuglien
Enstrom-Trouba
Daley?-Myers
Postma

Hellebuyck

Agree, but we still need to shore up our defense depth and our defensive system.

Postma will not be here next year. This is the last year of his contract and will not be re-signed. Ya think any one will take him at the deadline? Unlikely

There may be an AHL team in need of a d-man for the Calder Cup run...

Jet's have 18 million in cap space next year. We can afford a good goalie( Fleury, Bishop etc) for a few years. Or maybe Comrie steps up. No need to sell the farm.

Would like to see Schneider (trade) or Bishop here.

Bishop's injury history is not great so anything over 3 years is VERY risky problem is someone will offer 6 or 7 years!

Is the "Thrashers core" thing still a thing? How can that even be a narrative? You take Wheeler, Little, Byfuglien, and Enstrom off this team and were worse than the Avs.

i like the idea but i think conner and a first (considering it will be between 3-6 overall ) is alot? I'd part with Perrault for a bag of chips though
